It could happen to you

Had a stroke recently and I’m using one finger for typing. What is a stroke? A pain in the buttocks, that’s what.

For me it was the inability to do anything with the left side. My left side won’t do anything. You would think it would happen in just older folk, but I’m under 60. It could happen to you as well. So take care of yourself.

A stroke, often called  a “brain attack”, is an interruption of the blood supply to any part of the brain.

Risk factors include age, gender, with signs including face drooping, arm weakness, and speech problems.  If you see any of these signs, call 911 immediately. “A stroke occurs when a blood vessel that carries oxygen and nutrients to the brain is either blocked by a clot or bursts (or ruptures). When that happens, part of the brain cannot get the blood (and oxygen) it needs, so it and brain cells die.”

Why such a pain? Well, it’s a pain for several reasons. For one I’m one-finger typing, so it takes a while, 2, no privacy means no privacy, It’s called working off someone’s schedule. 3, sleeping arrangements are messed up; I’m downstairs now until I learn to walk again and 4, the person having the stroke experiences extra time at a hospital or rehab center. For us, there was no rehab center so we need to do all the rehab ourselves. That means my husband has to take out time from his schedule. We’re practicing.

We have so much to do around here. Financing help is not around the corner for us. Our apartments have been nice to us. They’re going to build us a ramp outside and they dropped our rent a bit.

It’s a pain in the buttocks for me especially.

It happened so fast,  so watch out.
